Unfortunately disasters such as Earthquakes, Floods and Landslides kill and injure thousands of people each year and leave many more homeless and destitute.

S.A.R.A.I.D is a British charity dedicated to trying to save the lives of innocent victims of disaster as well as relieving human suffering around the world regardless of colour, creed, religion and political persuasion. Staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by public donations, S.A.R.A.I.D is on call 365 days a year, always ready to provide trained Search and Rescue personnel, free of charge to any country in need of assistance. 

S.A.R.A.I.D members are drawn from all walks of life. However, the one common attribute shared by all our volunteers, is the desire and determination to help the innocent victims of disaster around the world regardless of colour, creed, religion or political persuasion.

Currently our membership includes serving Fire-fighters, Paramedics, Doctors and Structural Engineers as well as office workers and builders.

When disaster strikes, time is of the essence. It is therefore essential that the S.A.R.A.I.D team is well trained, well equipped and able to deploy quickly to the site of any disaster around the world. By limiting the size of the Rescue team, S.A.R.A.I.D can move swiftly to the scene of the disaster and provide a comprehensive and effective service to those in need. S.A.R.A.I.D numbers can then be bolstered by utilizing local resources, knowledge and man power to maximize our effectiveness on scene.

Members bring with them many differing skills from their varied professions and learn many more skills during our monthly training sessions and exercises. However, the most valuable asset a member must have is the ability to work as part of a close knit team.

S.A.R.A.I.D has a depth of experience in its membership. S.A.R.A.I.D members have over the years provided Search and Rescue assistance during many overseas disasters most recently in Turkey, India, Mexico, Palestine, Pakistan and Algeria.

S.A.R.A.I.D is entirely staffed by volunteers and funded by public donations. As a result every penny raised is spent on Search and Rescue equipment, training and transporting the team to the disaster sites. Fundraising takes on many forms from the ubiquitous charity box, jumble sales and sponsored events through to corporate sponsorship and adoption by schools as their favorite charity.
